Every year near the middle of October, a group of guitar players, singers, songwriters, and other musicians get together in Wimberley, Texas — in the heart of the Texas Hill Country — to spend a long weekend of song circles, jam sessions, workshops, open mics, barbecue, beer drinking, and swapping stories. This web site is for everybody who has come to the Texas Gathering, and for everyone who enjoys seeing people have a great time making music and making friends. TXXII! October 14-17, 2011!The Twelfth Annual RMMGA Texas Gathering (TXXII) will take place in Wimberley, Texas from Friday afternoon, October 14 to Monday morning, October 17, 2011. Once again, the site will be the 7A Resort in Wimberley, Texas. We have again reserved two of their large lodges. In addition, we'll have the "Opera House" again this year for our open mics and other "presentations". The Opera House is a great space for performing. As always, we'll have way too much fun for three days. There are some pictures from TXX here. This year will feature more of the same! To sign up for this year's Gathering, please go to the official signup site. Please note that you'll need to put down a $100 deposit before your reservation is "official". Email Al Evans for details. If you're not already on the Texas Gathering Mailing List, and you want to be, go here and become one of us! Ted Blackwell's "Wish I Had A Dollar"This is one of Ted's songs. He claims it was inspired by the posts to the Texas Gathering mailing list in the days after TX8. But who knows, really? Five Articles By Steve GlicksteinThese are five articles written by Steve Glickstein, a member of the Texas Gathering, for the Broward (FL) Folk Club newsletter. Steve passed away in September, 2007, and we all miss him. | ||
